Easy Tanning

If you do not have time for sun tanning but want to get that tanned look, sunless tanning is the best way to do so. This method also saves your skin from exposure to harmful UV rays found in sunlight, thereby eliminating chances of occurrence of skin cancer.

Sunless tanning is obtained through skin-care products called self-tanners or tanning extenders. These are skin friendly products which, when applied to the skin, give it that coveted tan look that you had always wanted. Despite the fact that their wrong use could give some negative results, these sunless tanning products are considered safe.

Tanning of the sunless type is easy to get. You don not need to spend too much time on it as well. Quite unlike the usual method of spending the whole day evenly spread out under the sun, sunless tanning can be obtained as you continue with your present job, even when you are indoors.

Sunless tanning products are commonly sold as take-away gels, lotions, creams and sprays. You need to simply apply them to your skin. Results would be visible within 8 to 24 hours of application. If you want a tan right away then opt for those products which have a tint. Further, if you want an even, full body tan then you can visit your local salon, spa, or even tanning outlets.

The active ingredient present in sunless tanning products is usually DiHhydroxyAcetone (DHA). On application to the skin, it reacts with dead cells present in the outermost layer of skin. The reaction temporarily causes the skin to become dark. This color does not come out easily with washing. However, with the expulsion of these dead cells, the skins original color comes back on. Usually, this happens within five to seven days of application of the product.

Quite unlike earlier available ones, tanning products available these days give you an even, natural looking tan. However, the results vary with the method of application employed. In order to get the best looking tan in the safest possible manner, follow the methods given below:
 
* Choose the color of tanning product carefully. For best results, opt for a more naturally-looking product.

* Before applying the product on your skin, clean your skin off excess dead skin cells. Hair from other parts of the body should be removed for even application.

* It is best to apply the sunless tanning product lightly and evenly. If you have dry or thickened skin then apply less of the product. Also, apply less of the product on your elbows, knees and ankles as these portions tend to absorb the product more.

* Wait for at least 15 to 20 minutes after the application of the product in order to get dressed. Otherwise, the color may stain your clothes.
 
If you need to venture outside in the sun, then it is best that you apply a sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15. This would protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
