There has definitely been a rise in the number of people going in for indoor tanning as reflected by the growing sales of tanning lotions and creams. More and more people are increasingly going in for indoor tanning for a variety of reasons.

Since the time when fashion icon Coco Chanel popularized the concept of tanning, the desire to have a tan has increasingly led people to use all kinds of methods, including even some of the desperate ones.

Indoor tanning has propagated as one of the safest and most popular methods of tanning because you don't need to sit outside in the sunlight for long hours and risk a sunburn, blisters or any of the accompanying hazards.

Also, the process is extremely simple, easy-to-perform and can be done in the convenience of your home. Be it winters or summers- you can have a tan whenever and wherever you want. For example, a tanning lotion can just be purchased at the nearest pharmacist and applied in the privacy of your home.

Tanning beds on the other hand can be used at tanning salons or at home itself. They may require you to stand up or lie down. Nowadays, the tanning beds emit UVA rays which cause less burning than the UVB rays. The earlier tanning equipment used UVB rays thus making them harmful in the long run.
