The tanners that you use, either beds or
facial tanning equipment, the quality of your tan depends on the tanning
bed bulbs. They are the main source of tanning that give out the
required amount of UV radiations to stimulate the melanin content of
your body. The tanning bed bulbs play the major role in the process of
tanning.
Before you buy a sunless tanning
product like tanning beds, you need to know certain facts about the
lamps that the product is equipped with. The self tan tanning bed bulbs
are of various kinds and they are of prime importance in tanning.
-
Tanning bed bulbs imitate radiation mechanism of the sun. The sun
emits three kinds of radiations: UVA, UVB and UVC. The UVC has the
shortest and the most harmful wavelength which is absorbed by the
ozone layer. The tanning bulbs produce the UVB and UVA wavelengths,
which help in a healthy tan. UVB light is the starter of the tanning
process which stimulates melanin development. UVA, at a slower pace
completes the required tanning process.
-
Bulbs which have a lower UVB will actually make you darker but in a
little longer time. Whereas, a higher UVB bulb tans you faster, but a
dark tan is not achieved like the one with low UVB.
-
The Bronzing bulbs have a lower level of UVB and they tan you darker
in a slower process than normal bulbs. Bronzing bulbs are deferent
from 'hot' bulbs. The hot bulbs are actually the opposite to bronzing
bulbs. Hot tanning bed bulbs have a higher level of UVB and less UVA
that tans faster.
-
Generally, most of the tanning bed bulbs are rated and approved for
1000 hours of use, but it's better for good results that they're
changed after 600-800 hours of use.
Hence, bulbs are to be taken into first preference while buying the
tanning booths. The right bulbs offer good tanning.
